Pre-Production of Hope

Hello,

I don't know if I have mentioned it before but I am working on a script for a feature film that I will be shooting over the summer (2011). I started writing the script last year and for a few months I have had writer's block aka. doubting if my film will be imperative for anyone to see but my doubt has dissolved after watching many interviews of other actors and directors. Some of their words have inspired me to find the true meaning of my film. I would love to say what my film is about on my blog but it hasn't been copyrighted yet and I don't want to take any chances. All  I can say is a tiny statement that I made up to represent my film: When life throws you lemons you rely on your imagination to make the bitter bearable. Thanks to my helpful friends, so far I have two actresses (Jasmine and Erica) casted and a  composer (Sajjad). I am extremely happy that I have a composer. I really thought that wasn't going to be possible but I listened to a few songs that Sajjad has composed and shared on Facebook and I believe that he is really talented.

P.S
Once my film has been copyrighted , this blog will become an archive of the 5 stages of filmmaking (Development>Pre-Production>Production>Post-Production>Distribution).

Here are some interviews that I have watched:

1.When I saw this I remember that it takes LUCK and hard work to become successful and that I should always reach for my dreams. I feel like the day you give up on your dreams would be the day you would have made it.

2. While watching this I learned how great it would be to work with your friends in your career because they know your personality and I would be more comfortable. Hopefully they are comfortable with me being their director and respect my vision.

3. This video taught me that I need to develop my characters better so my audience can understand the character's mannerisms,  choice of words, well over all the SOUL of my characters.

Love vs. Infatuation

Hello,

I love films and Scott Pilgrim vsThe World would be considered my infatuation. After viewing the film I went to the library to check out the graphic novels. I have read all five novels so far and I am finishing up with number 6, thanks to a friend (Melissa C.) of mines that lent me her copy. The director is epic, the music is Epic, the dialogue is EPic, the game references are EPIc, and the characters are EPIC!!! The video located below the text is NOT a trailer for the film. It is a remix of scenes from the film with the theme "WHAT?" in it. Check it out!

The WILL to Live

Hello,

Sometimes I doubt myself. It's common to doubt yourself sometimes but when I do, I find things in my life such as other people's words of Wisdom to believe in myself again. At times I doubt that I will become an A-list Hollywood Actress but this video brings me back to knowing that I WILL BE. This video is inspirational and I think everyone should watch this at one point of their life. It's about talent vs. skill, dreams vs. reality, belief vs. hope in any profession you choose.

Sometimes less is more...

Hello,

I really think this trailer was beautifully constructed. The song perfectly matches the images reveal in the trailer. They pull me in so much with so little dialogue. At lot of times I feel that trailers, especially films in the comedy genre reveal too much of the story line or rather give up most of their jokes in the trailer. Give me your ideas about this trailer if you want to.

Friendship Always has an Impact

This is a Spoken Word poetry piece that Chazz and I wrote. Our friendship grew so much from writing this piece together. I learned the power of poetry as we linked our creative and pushed each other to be more honest As our tired eyes and minds molded together we gave birth to the most beautiful political piece that I have ever read. I never though I could write something like this as well as work with someone. Most of the time I like to work by myself but here that pattern was tested and the product was amazing. We preformed this at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and in-front of our friends One day I would love to write another piece with Chazz but I'll wait to our paths lead us back. We are both genius.

Breaking News: Barack Obama is no longer a Black man...
Hope is a hologram
His words will be seen on hypocrisy’s teleprompter
change is something that has been clinking around in my back pocket for years but my hand was never been brave enough to grab it in pursuit of anything more than some sun flower seeds and a 50 cent soda...With options limited noone can define choice [Insert "the Man" 's voice] we let one nigga in the white house...Uh, we reached our quota...
[“the Man’s voice continued] we can’t have colored children thinking they made it.
New textbooks will come out, his face mistakenly printed a little lighter.
Democracy…we will give him a demo to rule this government
His face never grazing pieces of paper purposely put on this planet projecting this prayer or rather this pursuit of prosperity because his four fathers are living through him vicariously. See Kings will always inhabit a deck, but these presidential pawns get checked mated when the real government says that 4 years is over rated its just chess
We the people must dissect his decisions…In Obama We Trust our dreams…as long as this country trusts, it will prevail… 6 billion plus people into a nation where peace isn’t a mirage but just around the corner of bigotry, under lies, over deception.
All though we think we do
The name Barack falls from the lips of a nation
as if a few years ago his middle name was not hung beside Sadam
Fearing not the name as we cling onto revolution revising the reputation of a nation’s declaration of our life, liberty and the Pursuit of happiness
we need not let this election of a president lead us in the direction of a sedative...something to keep us quiet...like poisonous gas from the polite...it will creep up on us slowly killing us softly with it's song..."Yes We Can...Yes We Can"...be self destructive say fuck it push the red button and be our own end...cuz Hiroshima and Nagasaki don't have shit on the revolution that drops me...Like a baby of Watts or Kings death...WWIII...ignorance...this recession but politicians are still in recess...Hoping Obama will be that kid who decides to climb the monkey bars…( I think it‘s fine it‘s a metaphor for ppl calling black ppl monkey‘s but he is better than that…like his is climbing over the stenotype Shit...I guess I'm just pessimistic...But I wont rest on this shit...cuz if you sleep on time you'll only be there to see the end...And sleep is the cousin of death...so I can't let my "HOPE" be the reason for a nation's last breath
History respiration your memories leading us to the mountain top/clearly not letting Martins’ dreams defer/ Malcolm’s belief in the mental power his people dry up like a raisin in the… people people I can’t say this enough, race is something we can’t run from/ faster we dash duck dive quicker we run into it/ This election is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind, one stride across racial lines, one obliterated outlook of America which is now a land of opportunity, paved with golden embraces
But we can’t be complacent, forget that there are racists, look at our white wash history and try to erase it...No the dream's not deferred, but it sure as hell aint on track...if PaSaad could get knocked down by 4 MS soldiers with 4 gats...Shit...They went to get more clips... His body layin probably hoping "the shit miss"...Jesus couldn’t help him on this day before Christmas...0 time to look back...A nightmare...click clack...4-0 A dream...40 years after that...Our minds are are still colorless although our president is black...Its like we pick perception out of a hat...niggas don’t really feel free, but now wanna say the chains are broken and change is open but we have not be disconnected from our roots were still on the same tree with no new seeds, some new branches constricted by weeds so we still doin the same, hangin and chokin tryna inhale a bit of this Life Liberty and pursuit of Happiness
Change is not the path of the faint hearted, amnesty must be given to ignorance, Obama isn’t mankind’s Geppetto for change, cut away from that mentality, to be a real society we must yearn for prosperity, encoded it in our memory that it’s has to be free will so until you want this for yourself, you’ll be The Man’s puppet in the play called American is the land of the Immobilized
We all must be the index finger showing eyes what they've never seen before true freedom without reason just merely because it's meant to be but hasn't been in centuries...Tales hanging from the skies above Alabama of people brought to a foreign that their children must call home like rotten apples hanging from Maple trees leaking, belonging is what there seeking If yall havent gotten it by now then there's no point in us even speaking, you must be fistless if youre not grasping this. Only I can drag our chained wrists high enough to snatch this life liberty and pursuit of happiness

Post-Production

Hello,

I'm working on this script for a film I am going to shoot next summer. I would tell you the plot of the story but I haven't had it copyrighted yet. So sorry for the lack of info but I have a hard time trusting people with my story ideas. Yes I know it seems crazy to have a blog when I have trust issues but it's whatever. Back to the film. It's at it's Post-Production stage now. I currently have two jobs just to save up for the film, mac laptop, and mac's film cut editing software. I am also looking for grants to help with my budget because if i do this alone it will take a long time. I will also have auditions for the film. The leading female role is already casted. It's one of my best friends but it's based in her acting ability. Hopefully she doesn't have a busy schedule next summer. I only have 30 pages of the script so far.

Psychology Major

I want to become a psychiatrist. I took a quiz called The Advice Column Quiz at gurl.com and this was my result. There are many different aspects and life that reminds me that I am on the right path and this is one of them.

Do you often answer a question with a question? Are you convinced that most people's issues have their roots in their childhoods or minds, and that learning to understand oneself is the best way to solve problems? Do you try to get your friends to explain their problems in order to help them solve them? If so, you may be practicing psychoanalysis-lite on your friends without even knowing it. Consider getting a couch and charging $250 an hour. ;-)

Inspirational Film

Here is a poem that I was inspired to write after watch a film called Bright Star.

Touch has a memory as the sun does to the sea
Mind tangles through the nervous systems clutching
for dear life those tender memories
Swimming the abyss of conscience
O how I wish I was those memories
soft as an awaited kiss
quick as dawn pulsing promise
warm as a man’s cradle
strong as comfort consoling the unknown
to never be missed
to forever live in those memories
for you are never forgotten
for you are held in the right chamber
pulsing through my dawn

A dose of my Drug...

I love all types of music. Honestly, I don't have commitment issues. Music is my air. Every time I discover a new song, it's so refreshing to my ears. The tones help me experience life in a new direction or creates new and exciting stories in my head. Sherlock Holmes is a MUST watch film!
